Finally on the Sunday evening I covered all the stacked wood with a plastic sheet - it was supposed to rain hard that night - but didn't. So at least I made a start on clearing up the yard a little. I was exhausted by the time I went to bed :)

There was/is still another large pile of cut wood - but this is wood with nails or screws in it - will stack that separately - and carefully - later.

I also stacked the 'tongue and groove' shelving (mainly white - from the kitchen ceiling) and the good construction wood at the far end against the wall. By this time is was totally dark - around 8 p.m.

Which I then was able to stack in a fairly neat way back next to the wall.

The wood pile got bigger - found a lot of unusable wood to cut up ...

Here are some of the clippings from the overhang. There was more at the other end of the wall.

I also cut back the large overhang of the bushes from Joan's back yard - so I can now see the wall - part of which will need rebuilding at some point as the bloody bushes are pushing it over.

I also separated out at teh back all the good wood that I can use in the house (on the left under the cement mixer) and all the 'tongue and groove' panels that I can use as shelves for my books when I get them back from Canada - or as firewood if I have too much.

On Sunday 10th the weather was sufficiently nice to start using the chop saw to cut up the old wood, ready for winter. Here is the start of the pile.

I will be able to extend the desk surface (that I am making from the old panels that were on the side of the stairs) into the window recess to make it a pretty convenient extra working surface. The top half will be shelves for files.

Also last week (I really do need to set the date thing on the digital camera) I decided to open out the bottom of the old window in the conservatory - it had had a false level at the height of the bricks you can see at the back.

Im not sure when I actually did these tiles - sometime during the week of Sept 4th. I am pleased with the result - but still have all the edging to complete.

Now this is the new position. You can see the new black aerial wires coming down the chimney and the TV in position. I will board up the back of the fireplace so the wires cannot be seen and eventually replace the TV with a flatscreen one that goes on the wall. (I was listening to the Proms on Radio 3 at the time of this photo) :)

This was the original position of the TV.

On Friday Sept 1 a guy came to change the location of my aerial - I wanted it to come down the unused rear chimney. Here is a pic up the chimney - which as swept a year ago.
