Here is the same closer view with flash. I need to decide whether to change the colour to more of a gold or brown based colour. I left my colour book at the shop so I can't really tell yet. Then I need to decide whether to keep the door, door frame and windowframe white or paint them (or just the windows and frame) the same eventual colour as the wall - anybody any suggestions? Posted by Picasa

This one was taken with flash - although I am not sure there is much difference. Posted by Picasa

I painted the back door wall last night in a sampler paint with the name Tuscan Terracotta. I am not sure it works with the Light Maple wood of the cabinets. This photo was taken without flash. Posted by Picasa

I was on a roll once I had done the back door so I decided to do the inside of the front door - covering the original dark brown colour. Posted by Picasa

This is the outside of the back door after I had put on the primer/undercoat. I still have to put a strip of wood on the side window where the insulation is still visible. I also need to 'point' with mortar around the side windows and door frame. Posted by Picasa

I put primer/undercoat on the inside and outside of the back door this afternoon. Posted by Picasa

This is the step now that the concrete has dried. Posted by Picasa

This is the edge drying out by the evening ... Posted by Picasa

I concreted the edge of the back doorstep on Tuesday, too - there was a gap there ... Now I can tile up to it... Posted by Picasa

I have been laying the kitchen floor tiles over the last two weeks - I have taken my time because all the mixing of adhesive and bending to lay them is very tiring and I wanted to make sure they didn't move out of position before I started on the next tile. That's my excuse, anyway - never done tiling before and I am pretty pleased with the result so far. I still have more to do around the door and on the sides. Posted by Picasa

Here is the window I took out - I will offer it on the local Preston Freecycle - otherwise take it to the tip. Posted by Picasa

This is a close-up of the hole. You can see the back of the wall board in the kitchen. I dont know whether to make a small opening into the kitchen as a feature - it would be just above the sink but not the whole size of the window - or just board it out and use it as a storage area for files. I have plenty of time to make the decision Posted by Picasa

I had another attampt at taking out the original small side kitchen window - which is now in the study - and succeeded. Posted by Picasa
